Set ups for calls can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
The main machine for turning calls is called a lathe. The lathe requires turning tools, collet chucks, expanding mandrels, and a stopper for call making. With just these parts you can begin turning barrels (the top part of the call) and buy duck inserts to use as the tone board (bottom/stopper). This would be the simplest set up.
A complex set up for call making consists of a lathe (and everything listed above), chop saw/band saw, scroll saw/bandsaw, drill press/lathe drill, and a tone board jig. With this set up you can make every part of the call instead of using store bought inserts.
For call making there's multiple materials to choose from, like the ones listed on this site. It's important to use materials you know work well for call making (ex. Deadshot Polymers Acrylic, Cocobolo wood, Bocote wood, Etc.) not all woods you see are optimal for call making. Other supplies needed would be a micrometer, reeds, cork/rubber wedge, multiple drill bits, metal call bands, and oil/polish (ex. linseed oil and CA glue).
You can find a majority of you need from sites like Deadshot Polymers, Web Foot custom, HUT, Pintail Waterfowl and many others.
